POSITION SUMMARY
Drives diesel powered tractor to transport vans, tankers, flatbeds, lowboys, reefers, etc., on public roads or highways, from various locations to the customer(s) while observing state and city speed and safety regulations as well as company customer service and safety policies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and reports any discrepancies indicating truck condition to the dispatcher or shop foreman.
• Obtain shipping bills of lading and necessary signatures and returns completed paper work with timesheet daily.
• Maintain truck log, according to state and federal regulations.
• Maintain radio contact with dispatcher to receive delivery instructions.
• May perform emergency roadside repairs, brake adjustments, and install tire chains.
• May drive tractor with two trailers hitched in tandem.
• Must be able to safety and legally secure a loaded trailer.

To be qualified for this position, incumbents must :

• Have at least three plus years of winter driving experience in a tractor trailer. Winch truck experience is a plus.
• Must be able to work long hours and be flexible to work on call
• Be at least 23 years of age or older
• Have a valid Alaska Class A CDL with a TX endorsement and a valid medical card
• Furnish an Alaska DMV lifetime motor vehicle record; need a good driving history.
